For three generations our family has built mattresses the slow way. The latex layers are selected and stacked to your firmness, wrapped in natural wool, and encased in a cotton cover quilted on both sides. There is no assembly line, no overseas private-label factory, and no middleman adding a markup between our workbench and your bedroom.
Because we control every step, we can build things mass-market brands won't: a fully reversible mattress, sturdy handles, a zippered cover that lets you change the firmness years from now, and a 20-year limited warranty behind all of it.
Natural latex begins as milky sap tapped by hand from the Hevea rubber tree. The trees aren't cut down; each one produces for decades.
The sap is whipped into a resilient open-cell foam in one of two ways, and a Latexpedic can be built with either.
It takes roughly the daily output of 2,500 rubber trees to make one queen-size all-latex mattress. That is why real latex costs more than foam, and why it's worth more.

Most mattresses sold today contain zero percent natural ingredients. A Latexpedic contains three, and that is the whole list.
We spend more than 120 days a year in bed for the rest of our lives, so what's inside matters. There's no polyurethane foam, no fiberglass and no chemical flame retardants in a Latexpedic. Organic models are built with latex certified to the Global Organic Latex Standard, which requires at least 95% certified organic raw latex, and cotton and wool certified to the Global Organic Textile Standard.

Memory foam slowly gives way under pressure and can leave you feeling stuck. Latex pushes back in proportion to your weight: it yields gently at the shoulders and hips while lifting the waist and lower back. The spine stays in natural alignment all night.

A typical innerspring or memory foam mattress lasts 7 to 10 years. Natural latex can last 15 to 25.
Natural rubber is inherently resilient. It resists the sagging, body impressions and "trough" that develop in lesser materials, so the support you feel on the first night is the support you feel years later.
A mattress that lasts twice as long, sold without a middleman, costs less per night than one you'll replace.

Innersprings resist bending and crease over time. Latex flexes with a motorized base, isolates motion so adjustments don't disturb a partner, and returns to its shape without losing structural integrity. The 7" Classic is especially at home on hi-low and hospital beds.

A natural latex mattress is a healthier place to spend a third of your life.
Latex allergies usually come from contact with thin products like gloves. Mattress latex is washed and vulcanized, and you sleep on a quilted cover, not the latex. Anyone with a severe latex allergy should check with a doctor first.
A solid platform, a slatted base with slats no more than 3 inches apart, or an adjustable bed. Avoid a traditional box spring with wide-spaced coils; heavy latex can sag into the gaps.

Yes. Queen and king mattresses can be built with split firmness, one side softer and the other firmer.
Dunlop is poured and baked, making it denser and firmer, ideal for support cores. Talalay adds vacuum and flash-freezing for a more consistent, airier, buoyant feel, often preferred for comfort layers.
Harvesting natural rubber sap is labor-intensive; a queen all-latex mattress takes roughly the daily output of 2,500 rubber trees. Because it lasts about twice as long, the cost per year is often lower. Buying factory direct removes the middleman markup.
